Waylon Abernathy Sr.

Waylon Abernathy Sr., 90, of Benton, AR passed away August 16, 2025, in Little Rock, AR with family by his side. Waylon was born July 9, 1935, in Hog Jaw Community near Oden, AR to Buford and Bessie (Jackson) Abernathy. Waylon is preceded in death by both parents, and daughter Patty Abernathy.

Waylon is survived by his wife Karen Abernathy, son Waylon Abernathy Jr. and wife Ramona, daughters Sharon Abernathy Blevins, Angie Dischinger and husband Brian, Hollie Marling and husband Michael, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, brother Alton Abernathy, sister Willa Mae Abernathy Hale, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Service Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:30 at First Baptist Church of Mount Ida, AR. Bro. Jerry Stovall. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in the community of Hog Jaw. Pallbearers Waylon Abernathy Jr., Waylon Abernathy III, Nick Harlan, Brian Odle, Michael Marling and Brian Dischinger. Arrangements under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR.
