Margie Lou Standridge, 90, of Mount Ida, was born July 7, 1936, in Story, Arkansas, to the late Earl and Geneva Stachey Irons, and passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on October 24, 2026, with her family by her side. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Brigadier General Jon Alan Standridge.
She is survived by son Brent (Lori) Standridge of Benton, daughter Laurie Ann (Rusty) Whisenhunt of Mount Ida, grandchildren Ty Alan (Haylee) Whisenhunt of Mount Ida, Cati Beth (Cody) Davis and great grandsons Cass Cohen Davis and Gage Davis, all of Mount Ida, and grandson Jon Trevor Standridge and granddaughter Paige Anderson, both of Little Rock.
Marge graduated from Mount Ida High School in 1954 along with her husband and was a consummate homemaker and teacher’s aide throughout her life. She enjoyed all things attendant thereto including washing, ironing, vacuuming, cooking, cleaning, and making the family home a place where cleanliness, food, and comfort were always to be found. The well-being of her family was always her top priority, and nothing was more important to her than the time she got to spend with her family. Mimi lived her entire adult life at the family farm home in Montgomery County, Arkansas, where beef cattle, hay, and timber was raised. She was a member of the Mount Ida United Methodist Church.
A celebration of her life with a graveside service will occur at the Standridge Ranch Family Cemetery 5 miles east of Mount Ida on U.S. Highway 270 at Tuesday, October 27, 2026 @ 5:30 P.M. , where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Jon Alan. Pallbearers will be Ty Whisenhunt, Trevor Standridge, Cody Davis, Jason Lenderman, Aaron Lenderman, and Gage Davis. In lieu of flowers any donations are requested to be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are through Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, www.thorntonfh.com.
