James Eugene Gossett

James Eugene Gossett, 82, of Sims, Arkansas, passed away, Thursday, August 6, 2026, at home in Sims. He was born June 12, 1944, in Little Fir. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, wife of 53 years Kathy Gossett, daughter, Sarah Coffey, brother Jack Nokes, Jr Gossett, Oliver Gossett, sisters Delsey Looper, Shirley Campbell.

Eugene is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Barrett, grandchildren, Tyler Gossett, Dakota (Kendra) Barrett, Katelyn (Dustin) Lunsford, Brookelyn Coffey, Rustin Coffey, Lakelyn Coffey, great grandchildren, Hadleigh Barrett, Hestyn Barrett, Leyton Lunsford, Brazos Lunsford, Kyzr Gossett, brother Clemmon Gossett and wife Theresa, Martha Vaughn, Maxine Volkert, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, 4 to 6 at Thornton Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 2pm at Pencil Bluff Cemetery with Bro. Dakota Barrett officiating. Pallbearers Tyler Gossett, Rustin Coffey, Dustin Lunsford, Jeff Robertson, TJ Wilson, Russell Wallace, and Mike Underwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida.
