Donald Glenn Hyett, 84, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Hot Springs. He was born November 3, 1937, in Anderson County, Texas, to Coy Jack and Valena (Clark) Hyett Hayton. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, stepfather, Leonard Hayton, 2 sons, Jerry Don Hyett and Douglas Hyett, daughter, Sharon Hyett, sister, June Hall and a brother, Tom Hayton.
Don is survived by his wife, Sandra (Burmeister) Hyett, sons, Jay (Larissa) Hyett, Greg (Brandi) Burmeister, Mark (Cathy) Burmeister, bonus daughter, Judy Parker, son-in-law, Joe Lucio, grandchildren, James Franceso, Kirstyn (Carl) Schulker, Kaitlyn Hyett, Kinley and Olivia Burmeister along with many other family and friends.
Don loved the outdoors. He was a scuba instructor and taught hundreds of students how to dive. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked in healthcare for 50+ years, from a lab/x-ray tech to hospital administrator of Palacios Community Medical Center. A highlight of his life was assisting with the excavation of the LaSalle Shipwreck in Matagorda Bay.
Graveside services will be at Joplin Memorial Cemetery Monday, May 9th, 2022, 10:30 am, Bro. Ron Newberry will be officiating, with a gathering of family and friends following the service at Joplin Methodist Church.
