Debroah (Debbie) P. Abbott, age 69, born on Sept. 09th, 1950, passed
away at her home on Aug. 04th, 2020. She was preceded in death by a
number of family, friends, which many were/are long-time neighbors,
such as her parents Paul and Gladys Griblin, yet many relatives are
still alive from the White or maternal side, such as one of Debbie’s
first cousin’s, June Davis, and a first cousin from the Griblin or
fraternal side, such as Patricia Lappin. Also, preceded in death by a
long time friend and neighbor Wille Mae (Davis) Steps and many of her
late family members and surviving ones.
Survived by a long time friend, neighbor, and former schoolmate, Paul
Head. And, friends and neighbors, James Colgrove and Bobbi Brooks.
During grade school and later, she was friends with the late Roseanna
Markham, and Linda Green, among others.
Debbie had one child on June 13th, 1983, born/named Scotty Parker.
Debbie married Doyle Abbott on the 30th day of Aug. 1985. He later
adopted Scotty (Parker) Abbott and passed away on May 10th, 1989.
During the mid or late 80’s, Debbie graduated nursing school from
Mena, AR. She later went on to mostly work in nursing homes but was
the Montgomery Co., school nurse from 1993 to 1997. Debbie quit
working as a nurse during the year of 2009. She loved animals, namely
dogs and was involved with rescuing abandoned/stray animals, including
opossums.
In the early 90’s, Debbie did part of some continued education to
become a registered nurse in Mena, AR, at Rich Mountain Community
College. Starting around the year 1996 and later, she taught her son
some Christian truths from the Bible, such as the condition of the
dead, as recorded in the King James Version regarding Ecclesiastes 9:5
and Acts 24:15. In her later years, Debbie suffered from a sleeping
disorder. Graveside memorial services to be held at 2 p.m. on the 29th
day of Aug. 2020 at the Shockey Chapel Cemetery in Norman, AR. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com
