Charley Guy O'Neal Jr.

Charley O’Neal, 74, of Mount Ida, AR passed away August 10, 2025, in Hot Springs, AR with family by his side. Charley was born on September 29, 1950, in Hot Springs, AR to Guy and Minnie (Campbell) O’Neal. He is preceded in death by both parents, his loving daughter Carrie Lynn O’Neal, brothers Jim O’Neal and Mike O’Neal, sisters Wanda O’Neal and Sue McLane, brother-in-law Bob McLane.

Charley was a retired dump truck driver of 40 years and a Veteran of the Air National Guard of Arkansas. Charley was an avid deer and turkey hunter and had a passion for collecting classic Camaros. Charley was a family man and loved his family dearly.  

Charley is survived by his wife of 54 years Kathy (Thew) O’Neal the love of his life and he was hers as well, daughter Michelle Lacefield (Temple), grandchildren Zachary Kesterson (Jay), Michael Kesterson (Katy), Christian O’Neal (Leona), great grandson Kash Kesterson, sister-in-law Paulette O’Neal, nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends and his fur baby Rue Rue.

Visitation Tuesday, August 12, 2025, 6 to 8 at Thornton Funeral Home. Service Wednesday August 13, 2025, 10am at Joplin Methodist Church, Bro. Justin Neal will officiate. Burial will follow at the Joplin Cemetery. Pallbearers Zachary Kesterson, Michael Kesterson, Christian O’Neal, Mike Thew, Marvin Thew, Melvin Thew, Mark Thew and Bart Williams.
