Steven Clark Rabalais

Steven Clark Rabalais, 70, of Norman, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, July 9th, 2020 at Hospice in Hot Springs. Steven was born May 10th, 1950, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Bernard and Billie Jeanne (Deer) Rabalais. Steven is preceded in death by his parents.

Steven is survived by his wife of 32 years; Jean (Webster) Rabalais, son; Harrison Rabalais, daughter; Leslie Rabalais, brother; Thomas (Tina) Rabalais, sister; Jeanne (Alan Dean) Leonard.
Steven had a long, well respected career as the Marine Operations Supervisor at Louisiana University Marine Consortium in Cocodrie, Louisiana. He blended scientific research and industry needs into a well organized and productive operation for the Marine Institute. He truly loved marine science and loved thoughtful scientific discussion.

On a more personal level, he was an avid scuba diver, he was skilled at woodworking and carpentry, he enjoyed salvaging old boats and old houses, he was obsessive about searching for old bottles (with a collection of hundreds), and he enjoyed many trips to Mexico for adventure (when he was younger). In later years, Steven had two beloved donkeys – Goober and Buddy, who he fed peanuts and beer as a treat. It is also worth mentioning that he had an outrageous sense of humor and an over the top personality.

He was a good father and husband and lived a vibrant life. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guests may register at wwww.thorntonfh.com.
