Shirley Byers

Shirley Byers of Mount Ida, AR, departed this Earth for her heavenly home on June 28, 2022. Shirley was born December 17, 1935, in Roseberg, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Delbert “Red” Byers.

Shirley liked to stay busy and spent her adult life working in a glove factory, the shoe factory, and then ran and owned Shirley’s Gifts and Jewelry for 20 years. After retiring, Shirley enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and almost always had one she was working on nearby. She loved keeping up with the latest news from her family members from coast to coast and could often be found at her son’s tire store, sharing their recent exploits and adventures with those nearby. An extrovert at heart, Shirley enjoyed meeting and talking with people whenever the opportunity presented itself and if it didn’t present itself, she created her own opportunity!

Shirley is survived by her son, Larry Byers and wife Betsy, her daughters, Jeannie (Byers) Wade and husband Rick, Sharon (Byers) Masterson and husband, Allen; 6 grandchildren: Bobby Davis, Jennifer Beck, Crystal Padgett, Nicholas (Kristen) Byers, Jeffrey (Lauren) Byers, Dustin Masterson; 10 great grandchildren; and a plethora of other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Gaston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornton Funeral Service in Mt. Ida. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com
