Marguerite Mccaslin

Marguerite Graham McCaslin, age 98, of Mount Ida, passed away July 13, 2022. She was born March 19, 1924, in Mount Ida, the daughter of Oscar and Lela Graham. She was the fourth of six children and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She married Clayton W. McCaslin of Royal, April 17, 1944. They had celebrated sixty-two years of marriage at the time of Clayton’s death January 2007. She has been patiently waiting to reunite with him for 15 years.

Marguerite was a charter member of First Baptist Church and a faithful servant. She was a teacher of the ladies Sunday School class for many years and was a respected role model to many ladies with whom she shared the love of Christ. Marguerite and Clayton were dedicated members of The Gideon International organization. They attended meetings all over Arkansas and were well known for their service with The Gideons.

Marguerite was a member of the Mount Ida Ladies Bowling team and an excellent bowler. She also loved playing card and board games with the family and friends and played to win. Her most enduring past time was working crossword puzzles and completing them!

For over 20 years, she worked at the Indianapolis Glove Factory in Mount Ida and made lifetime friends. Clayton and Marguerite were able to retire together and do some long-awaited traveling. They loved visiting children and grandchildren and attended many birthday parties, graduations, and weddings and celebrated the births of great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons: Bob (Lana) McCaslin of Bentonville, Mike (Stephanie) McCaslin of Pearcy, and daughter Rebecca (Stan) Fox of Benton; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, many loving nephews and nieces, and special friend and caregiver Leslie Flury.

Marguerite resided in The Montgomery County Assisted Living from October 2009-October 2021, when she moved to the Montgomery County Nursing Home. The family extends sincere gratitude to both facilities for the love and care she received.
Services will be in Mount Ida First Baptist Church, 204 Lucerne Street, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Bruce Short officiating. Internment will be in Mount Ida Cemetery under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com
