Lonnie Ray Beggs

Lonnie Ray Beggs, 83, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving children at CHI St Vincent in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born June 26, 1938 in Sims, Arkansas to the late Richard and Mattie Beggs. He is preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, 1 sister, 1 brother in law and his wife of 65 years Della Mae Beggs.

Lonnie is survived by his children, son; Mike (Glenda) Beggs, daughters; Tammy Long and Tina Brown, grandchildren; Tiffany (Jeremy) McConathy and Dakota Brown, great grandchildren; Zane and Nora McConathy, sister in laws and brother in law, and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Lonnie worked for Hampton Lumber and Scott Lumber Company as a foreman, also Jones Trucking and Blackmon Oil Company. He was owner and operator of Mt Ida Exxon as well as his own log hauling truck. He drove for Delbert Parnell Logging up until his retirement.

Lonnie Ray enjoyed his deer camp the most of anything. He also looked forward to that traditional, annual gathering of family and friends. Later in life he loved to visit Branson each summer with Mike. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing, and camping. He also loved to watch Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune with Della Mae, He also enjoyed a good TV Western or car auction.

He was a loving Dad to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as their “Pa”

Visitation will be Friday, October 8, 2021 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at Thornton Funeral Home. Graveside service wil be Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 am at Lone Valley Cemetery in Sims, AR, with Bro.
