Johnny Lewis Fryar

Johnny Lewis Fryar, age 69, of Pencil Bluff, AR, departed this life on March 3, 2020 at CHI St Vincent in Hot Springs, AR, with his family by his side after a long battle with Lupus and Heart Disease. He was born March 19, 1950, to the late Gerald Fryar and Nina Cates. He is preceded in death by both his parents, bother; Tommy Fryar, and two Heavenly grandchildren; Rylee Gibbs and Forrest Tubb.

Johnny served his country in the US Army Reserves for 22 years, making 1st Sergeant, where he met and made lifelong friends. He was employed by the US Forest Service as archaeologist and retired after 30 years, Johnny was an avid outdoors man and had many different hobbies but fishing was his passion. The only thing that made fishing any better was when he would take any kid that wanted to go fishing and that would put a big ole smile on his face that he would talk about for days.

He is survived by wife; Brenda (Vincent) Fryar of the home, daughter; Kenetha Tubb and husband Jim of Texarkana, Texas, two sons; Cody Gibbs and wife Bonnie of Mena, AR, Jefferson Fryar of Arkansas, grandchildren; Addison, Dani, Cord, Shelby, Marlee, Sophie and Jaden, sister, Phyllis Kesterson and husband Tad of Mount Ida, AR, brother; Larry Fryar of Story, AR.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 4th, 2020 at 10:30 am at Brushy Baptist Church in Oden, Arkansas with Bro. Tommy Beshears officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com
