James Earl Ponder

James E. Ponder age 87 of Norman went to be with the Lord November 7, 2021.

He was born on April 7, 1934 in Caddo Gap, the son of Joseph Alvin Ponder and Etta Jane Driggers. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Lois Ponder, 4 sisters Nelix Sis Waggoner, Billy Jo Scott, Lucille Ponder Varnell and Maxine Ponder, 2 brothers Dale Ponder and Ray Ponder, brother-in-law Larry Gray, mother-in-law Minerva Nelson.

He is survived by his loving wife Iva J Gray Ponder for 57 years, his 5 children and their spouses, Danny Ponder, Debra Gossett, Darrell Golden, Tina and Hoss Loudermilk, and Terry and Marlene Golden, 12 grandkids, 23 great-grandkids, a host of nieces and nephews, along with other family and friends.

He loved his family and especially his grandkids. He was a Army vet and served in Germany. He was a log hauler and known as “SlowPoke”. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guest Register at www.thorntonfh.com
