Ina Lois Summitt

Ina Lois McKinney Summitt, age 92, of Mount Ida, passed away September 13, 2022. She was born November 17, 1929, in Sims, Arkansas, the only daughter of Virgil and Zetta McKinney. She was the fourth of five children and was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Elbert, Dodd, I.J. and Jack McKinney.

She married Wilburn Summitt on November 2, 1947. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage at the time of his death in April 2009.

She is survived by two children, Rick Summitt of Sims, Arkansas and Marsha Chambers of Bismarck, Arkansas; three much loved grandchildren, Tony Chambers (Amy), Cori Hinson (Daniel), Will Summitt (Savannah) and six great-grandchildren; Nash, Wyatt, Olivia, John, Eliza and Evie, who were all so special to her. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dale (Pat) Summitt, an aunt, Winona Carter and a host of other family and friends.

Ina was a member of the Lone Valley Church of God where she was one of the oldest living members.

Ina was a resident of the MCAL until recently. She had moved to the MCNH after falling and breaking her hip. The family wants to thank both facilities for the love, care and concern she received while living as a resident of both facilities.

Services will be held at the Lone Valley Church of God in Sims, Arkansas, on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 2:00 pm with Bro. Brian Hill officiating. Pallbearers are Tommy Jenkins, Danny Hansbrough, Clay Carter, Delton Hughes, Terry Summitt and Jerry Summitt. Interment will be at the Lone Valley Cemetery in Sims, under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, Arkansas. Guest may register at www.thorntonfh.com
