Alger Tabor

Alger Arvin Tabor, born December 10, 1935, passed away this last Friday, September 9, 2022. Alger was born in Oden and married the love of his life on December 3, 1954, Clorece L. Short. They had a great life during their 62-year marriage.

Alger was in the auto body business for 55 years. He worked for Eddie Robbins in Texarkana until the couple moved back to Mount Ida in 1975. He owned his own body shop in Glenwood for several years, and then went to work for Lindell Trimble in Hot springs. He finished out his career at Bob Carvers Cars and Trucks in Mena, before retiring to spend time at home with Clorece.

Clorece passed on March 30, 2016. They had three children, Debbie Lee, A.E. "Timmy" Tabor, and L.M. 'Bo" Tabor. Alger was preceded in death by his wife, and several siblings, Cecil Tabor, Dale Tabor, Wilber Tabor, Wilma Ward, Odis Tabor, and Gerald Tabor. He leaves behind: his children Debbie Lee (Ricky Lee) of Mount Ida, Timmy Tabor (Pam Tabor) of Hot Springs, and Bo Tabor of Mount Ida; his grandchildren Tonya Alford (James Alford) of Greenwood, Alan McArthur of Austin, TX, and Brandon Tabor (Tina Tabor) of Dallas, TX; his great-grandchildren Emily Alford, Bethany Alford, and Kenady McArthur.

Visitation will be at Thornton Funeral Home Tuesday, September 13th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. There will be graveside service at the Owley Cemetery at 10:00am Wednesday, September 14th. Pallbearers are Sammy Jones, Charlie Jones, Dale Scrimpshire, Chris Barnes, Jimmy Stroupe, and Jim Flat.
